Granny Pod

Designed for an elderly resident, this thoughtfully planned home sits on a uniquely narrow 12-foot-wide village plot. Adjoined to the neighboring structure on one side, the layout is optimized to draw light and ventilation primarily from the south. The stone-clad entrance facade with green windows features a built-in bench that naturally invites community interaction. Inside, a dual-toned hallway leads to a compact kitchenette seamlessly integrated into the living space—allowing for cooking, conversation, and entertainment to coexist. A pop of yellow highlights the vanity niche in the narrow passage, adding a cheerful focal point. At the rear, a spiral staircase introduces a graceful contrast to the boxy form, serving as a service access while enhancing visual flow. The home is designed not just for functionality, but to encourage connection, independence, and a sense of belonging in everyday living.
